Meet Laura
Hello and welcome! My name is Laura, founder of Enso Counselling and Psychotherapy. Let me tell you a little about myself, my work and inspiration behind the Enso name.
I’ve been a counsellor for over 13 years with a BSc in Psychology and an MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I recently relocated to the beautiful North Devon town of Ilfracombe with my family and our dog. We all love being outdoors in the picturesque nature that North Devon offers, especially spending time on the most stunning beaches. The photos you see across my website are from the local area, as a way of sharing a little of the calm and beauty that inspire me.
I specialise in working with people who feel isolated, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their sense of worth. I often work long term and so in our sessions, there’s no rush. We can go at your pace, taking the time you need to explore more deeply, make sense of patterns, and gently work through the struggles that feel heavy or stuck. Therapy can become a place to feel less alone, and to begin reconnecting with the parts of yourself that may have felt lost along the way.
The Enso Circle
The name Enso comes from a hand-drawn circle in Japanese Zen that symbolises balance, presence, and imperfection. It’s created in one breath, with one brushstroke – never perfect, but always enough.
That’s how I see therapy too. My approach is rooted in warmth, authenticity, and a deep respect for the whole of who you are.

My Approach
You don’t need to arrive knowing what to say or how to fix things to be welcome here. Together, we will create a space where you can slow down, reflect, and gently explore whatever feels heavy, confusing, or painful at your pace, in your way.
Our work is about making space for those emotions without judgement. Over time, therapy can help you reconnect with your self-worth, strengthen your sense of belonging, and begin to feel more grounded and whole.
Just like the Enso, healing doesn’t come from perfection, it begins by meeting yourself as you are, in the moment. Learning to embrace all parts of yourself, even the messy, uncertain ones, and finding balance in the middle of life’s challenges.
NCPS Registered
I’m registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). This means I’m on an Accredited Register that’s approved by the Professional Standards Authority, a Government-backed body that helps make sure therapy is safe and meets high standards. Being part of the NCPS shows my dedication to offering you safe, ethical, and professional support.
